SITE GUIDELINES

NZ paleoclimate research website http://www.paleoclimate.org.nz
(Udated July 2008)

Aim: The website aims to provide, on behalf of an informal collective of scientists from research institutions within and outside New Zealand (referred to here as the "NZ paleoclimate community"), a gateway to information and research on the climate history of the NZ region and surrounding areas.

Funding: Costs associated with the domain name registration, set-up and running are jointly funded by the "Global Change through Time" (GCT) research programme of the Institute of Geological and Nuclear Sciences (GNS Science). Any financial contributions that may be made from time to time by other organisations will be clearly acknowledged on this website, with regard to provider and purpose of the contribution.

Enquiries: The site offers a "contact us" form, which is remotely emailed to two representatives of the research collective ("website administrators"), nominated by the research collective. This responsibility may be deputised or delegated to other members of the collective as circumstances dictate.

Editorial policy: The primary focus is to provide information on the activities of the research collective as well as links to other scientific information. Information also may be loaded onto the www.paleoclimate.org.nz site. The protocol for this is to submit the material to the website administrators (via the "contact us" form). The material will then go through a two-person peer review to ensure a high standard of accuracy and presentation. The reviewers are nominated from the research collective. Acceptance of finalised material is at the discretion of the website administrators.

Privacy: Information on and links to members of the research collective are, by preference, via hyperlinks to web profiles on company or institutional websites. To guard against misuse (e.g. spam), our policy is not to display any email addresses, either on the website or within any material (e.g. PDF files) loaded on the site. Members of the collective who do not have web profiles, but wish to have electronic contact available via the website, will have this provided via a remote contact form, that will be emailed to them, via the GNS Science Information Technology system.
